Today I was fired from my job by Elizabeth Proctor, after she caught me alone with her husband, John Proctor. Now, she is fully aware of the adultery he committed, and is not pleased with him. I coveted John from the day we met, there was no concealing the way I felt about him. It was just a matter of time for that foolish Elizabeth to finally realize it. Although this may be true, there is also a possibility that she had qualmed about me from the start. Elizabeth treated me with great disrespect. Today, in the quiet uneventful town of Salem, something horribly interesting took place. At the early morning hours of the day, myself, along with a group of towns girls, were caught dancing in the woods with Tituba. The feeling of being free was a breath of fresh air, for once in my life I felt as if I could finally be myself. Tituba’s Barbados songs were sung in harmony, all the girls pranced around the fire under the midnight moonlight. The feeling of exhilaration was a feeling like no other. The commotion in dancing soon lead to the girls shouting out the men they desired. My heart wanted to scream out that I loved John Proctor, but instead I whispered something to Tituba much sweeter than love. I wished death upon Elizabeth Proctor! The people of Salem have been speaking nonsense, with rumors of witchcraft being practiced in the woods that night. Betty lays unawakened in the bed upstair.This whole situation has already got out of hand, we were simply sporting, thats it. Nevertheless, Betty needs to stop this nonsense now! Or will come in her room in the middle of the night with a pointy reckoning, I have no sympathy for her. It is blatantly obvious that poor little Betty is just putting on an act. I am in awe knowing that the naive townspeople actually believe this nonsense. Their mouth’s speak such nonsense such as, “ I saw Betty flying over the barn last night” . Meanwhile, my uncle is interrogating me non stop, speaking about how i have blush on my name. There is not one amount of blush on my name! Elizabeth is the reasoning for these accusations. Uncle is only concerned about my name because of his reputation. That's the only thing he truly cares about. I just need to get out of this damn town
