Recommended: Advantage of textbooks
An example of this is Laramie Project, I didn’t like the start of the book at all and then once it got going I ended up enjoying it a little bit more. Usually classes in high school involve skills that wont be used later in life but this class helped develop skills I will use. I saw this as a set up class for real life situations. It prepares you to be informed in a controversy like gay rights or learning about communities you didn’t know about
It has come to my attention that certain General Education (Gen Ed) courses may be removed from the curriculum. I’d like to address one Ged Ed course in particular, Math 107: Precalculus, and explain my reasoning for why it would not be in our university’s benefit to drop this course. In my experience, few areas of study challenge students like a math course. Explained in the chapter “Learning to Think” of scholar and liberal arts advocate Fareed Zakaria’s In Defense of a Liberal Education, there are multiple types of intelligence: linguistic, musical, and logical-mathematical.
The most thought-provoking book I read this summer was The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. Not only is this book fast paced keeping you with the urge to read but it also focuses on real events leaving the reader to wonder why it is said that history repeats itself. I chose this book to focus on because of the close connection the story seemed to hold to recent events in history. The Ebola outbreak was the center of the media’s attention recently because of all the harm it caused in Africa and the fact that a virus could be so destructive, managing a large scale outbreak, is a massive threat to life as we know it. My reason for taking AP World History was really quite simple.
One thing that was exciting and very interesting for me was learning about the Boston Massacre in Social Studies. Most people think of it as a minor event (which I did too until I learned all about it) in which a few people were killed, but it is much more than that, as I found out when my class went into a lot of depth to investigate the mysterious Boston Massacre. Some people think that the colonists aggravated the British and that the British fired in self-defense. Others say it was the British murdering (or murthering as they said it back then) innocent colonists. Whatever happened, it is a very interesting subject and kind of makes you question our supposed to be innocent ancestors.
Honestly I like writing and reading and hearing people’s take on a text. This class, which was filled with all of that, however I did not like and my attitude clearly reflected that. Every student learns differently and personally no matter how much I favor the subject, I vibe off of my environment. My table mates. The life of the class.
My view of the world changed a ton after taking this class. Before taking this class, I didn't know much about other countries, and what was happening around the world, but now I know what is happening worldwide. At the beginning of the school year, all of my friends were talking about how hard this class was supposed to be, and telling me I might should
In History 1111, it teaches a broad introduction to the development of the United States. From the casualty losses to major expansion, the United States has developed World History with each major aspect of important, historical events. In this course I have learned not only important events, but how to analyze them and how they affect our world today. History is a great topic because as we acknowledge past events, it influences the future. Events really mold the culture and society that everyone lives in.
Chapter Three: Chapter three will address how teaching different historical perspectives and events affects the cultural mindsets of young children. This chapter will also give different examples on how to teach various historical perspectives and events to young elementary students, including topics that may be especially sensitive for some of the diverse groups of students. The US and the rest of the world is constantly changing. Every day it seems there is something going on in the world that affects one country or another.
This year has been a ride to say the least… We came in thinking that we would be taught by Dr.Rice, a woman known by the to be eccentric at times but incredibly intelligent and wise. The reality of the situation was that halfway through the year we were removed from her teaching and put in a different class altogether. This change was sudden and honestly a major inconvenience to the class as a whole. We did learn yes but it felt rushed and and spastic like the whole time we were cramming info into our brains rather than taking our time to learn and digest the material.
But more importantly I felt a strong connection with my classmates, everyday was a new inside joke and several off-topic discussions and total disruption of the class by one (or more) students. Leaving that class would have been sad, one because I would feel I bailed out while they persevered through the class, but also because through that class I made some of my best friends, and have some of my favorite memories of high school. Honors World History was one of the hardest classes I have taken at Nashoba, and my grades would have probably been better if I had dropped to a lower level, but I continued with this challenging class because I loved my class, the teacher and the material, and because of that class I was able to pursue a variety of classes and
While still in high school, my favorite subjects were always creative or hands on. My favorite class was ceramics. I enjoyed it because it gave me an opprutunity to do something thoughtful,
In addition, I took my first advanced placement course during sophomore year: world history. World history had a notorious reputation on campus; everyone was afraid of the massive amounts of coursework. I decided to take world history, and I am so thankful that I did. I loved that class. I spent every weekend doing world history homework to prepare for the coming week.
As a child I always desired to study math and science. There is just something about solving problems, and finding solutions that catches my attention. Learning about the world, and how it function is very interesting to me. These subjects have help keep me wondering what I could learn next, and the reason being that I am a scholar in my classes. One accomplishment that I am proud of is being on the A&B honor roll.
During my higher secondary education, my interests and ability were inclined towards the logically oriented subjects like mathematics, physics,
I was lucky that my sister was also mastering on English language and literature at that time. We used to share many things about our subjects at school. That gave me a chance to get information on some other areas that I was not mastering
