What was observed during the experience? As I stood back, and observe doing this experience the first thing that I noticed when I looked around was how many homeless people we had in line getting a hot meal. They were all hurrying into the dining area with a lot of despair on their faces. There were males, and females of all age groups, and nationality. Some could barely walk in, and looked like they were in a lot of pain. Some looked like they were tired, and others just look like they were really sad. I didn’t observe one face that look like they were happy to just be alive. As the food was being served to each person that came through the line I seen the expressions on their face change from sad to happy in a matter of minutes. They were hovered over their plates as if the food would disappear. They were also eating really fast. I know for many this would probably be their only meal for the day, and some have not eaten anything in days. As I continued to look around the room, I started to look at the attire that they were wearing. I could see that they all looked as if they have not had a bath in days. Their faces were dirty, clothes were stained, and too big, and their hair was mated on top of their heads. The smell in the room was mixed with the smell of food, and the smell of body odors. Because, they live on the streets they do not have anywhere to take a shower, or have anywhere to wash their clothes. Once they were done eating most of them lingered around, and didn’t want to go back to the streets. Unfortunately, we can’t allow them to hang around too long, because its other people that need to sit, and eat their food. When most of them was done, and it was time to go back to the streets, I seen the look of despair come back upon their faces again as the harsh reality of their situation came right back to their minds.
