The Daycare Facility that I observated at was the Child & Family Research Center, on 2420 Comstock Dr. Reno, NV 89557. I observed two year olds for a total of two times. The first time I observed was on September eighth from ten in the morning to eleven. The second time I observed was on the September seventeenth from twelve ten to one twenty. Developmentally appropriate practice is somewhat a simple concept to understand but the meaning behind it is more complex, bigger and rich. Whichever program the children are placed into, it has to be built to benefit them. In other words the program should be designed to be the best for the children. A knowledgeable understanding of the children's development and their culture and social factors in which they are currently developing in is key to understanding their values and where they currently are developing. During this stage two-year olds are transitioning from infancy to childhood. By this age two year olds are being more aware of their motor skills, their language has progressed, and are more inclined with their five senses, their curiosity of who they are and who everyone else is enhances and so much more. Therefore providing them the curiosity to be in control and independent. DAP states, “ Caregivers have appropriate expectations for toddlers” The caregiver's expectations should not overshadow the children's development but instead match it. In addition, the children should be given the chance to explore their opportunities that are appropriate for them in a safe environment.
