Life is like The Odyssey, Homer’s epic poem, because you will always have problems that will try and hold you back from your goal like Odysseus did. The goal I have for my life is to be an electrician. I know I will have challenges taking the tests and learning the math, but eventually you will make it if you really care and try even though there are many times and temptations that will make you wanna give up, or do something different with your life. If you stick to it like Odysseus did, you’ll make it.
One problem to reaching my goal is wanting to quit and give up or take the easy way out. I have to take algebra to be an electrician. There is also a test to take before they will let you work there. These things might make me want to give up, like Odysseus wanted to give up when he was with Calypso. Calypso said “Before you go, all the adversity you face at sea, you would stay here and guard this house and be immortal.” This probably made Odysseus think about quitting his journey and staying there to take the easy way out. (5.73-75).

This is like when Circe tells Odysseus “you must visit the land of the dead first.” (10.55-56) Circe is trying to keep Odysseus from finishing his goal. Then there will be also people who help you reach your goal, like Hermes helps Odysseus reach his goal by giving him a plant that makes him immune to the witches’ magic “He meets Hermes who gives him a magic plant”
