The reason behind it was lack of faith and inspiration, that ultimately led up being failures. Later in his sophomore year, he was deviated on a different route, not willing to give attention to his studies yet ended up acing the tests in Biology class. His teacher tried verifying the placement results if something was wrong or not and finally realized him being put in a wrong section. Suddenly, he was asked to get started with the college prep. Then he met Prof Mac Farland, his English teacher.
First it seems to me that Mark starts to understand how he could get each of hit students to write, but the staff at juvenile hall doubted mark thinking he made the inmates feel special and wont be able to get them to write. I believe mark gained confidence from being doubted and underestimated from the staff. Mark knows what was better for the students
What does resilience really mean to you? The literal definition to resilience is the ability to cope with problems and setbacks. In the story Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, she shows us all different kind of ways that the characters in her story used the skills that Kendra Cherry was talking about, to help them out of every situation. In this story it shows how certain situations affect people in different ways and how each person goes through seven skills. The characteristic that Louie undergoes is the skill of Strong Problem-Solving.
When he had to drop out so early he wanted to still learn and do stuff so he decided to educate himself and made himself successful by not giving up. When he decided to still educate himself he did not go to school he had to learn everything by himself just to help his parents make money. The author reports,”Yet even without teachers or books, he continued to study the world around him”( page 13-14). This confirms how instead of him giving up he continued to keep learning about him getting some education. One more thing that he had that he was curious about is fixing sewing machines on his spare time.

Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn’t think we could be that strong.” In the non-fiction book Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, protagonist Louis Zamperini demonstrates his everlasting perseverance through his everyday actions. Like Devers believed, the resilient Zamperini refused to be defeated or demoralized and did everything in his power to keep his feet on the ground and his chin up.
The daughter, Collins, sat with him during school even though she was in the popular group. Even the small things meant a lot to Michael like when Leigh Anne moved Thanksgiving dinner to the dining room so they could all eat together. Michael was adopted by the Tuohy’s and they were proud to have him a part of the family. His football coach stood up for him during a game and told the ref he would protect Michael “like he was his own son”.

The students had overcome adversity due to a city full of gang violence, drugs, racism, and homelessness. They were seen as failures. Every faculty thought that those students are going to drop out of high school. However, by senior year they had gained a quality education. The was these students overcame adversity reminded me of the movie “Blindside.”
Hello everyone, I guess this will be my new group for the rest of the semester. I found this weeks reading assignment rather interesting, it discussed several valuable ideas some I had poundered myself. The author details his idea that “natural selection does not care about the quality of our golden years” meaning that nature only cares about one's ability to reproduce and to raise offspring. As long as they are able to mature without any complications and bring in the next generation, you have successfully contributed to nature.
