Teenage Rebellion Everyone enjoys a story about a teenage runaway, a teenage rebel, or someone just defying the rules of society. Someone rebelling against any rule is what makes a story interesting among all audiences. Even movies and books for little kids, like Disney or Pixar stories, for example, have rebels, and those are the characters that make the story happen. Although, the more known rebels are the ones from the classic stories that have been known ever since they were made.

Throughout the story, Juliet does not listen to what her parents say because she loves Romeo and is trying to do what is right by her standards. Although, at the beginning of the play, she does want to please her parents, so she tries to do what they want her to do. For example, she decides to give Paris a chance, even though she shows little interest in him. “I’ll look at him to like him, if looking makes liking, but I’ll look no more than you let me” (Shakespeare I.iii.page 50). She is trying to make her parents happy and under the impression that she’ll do whatever they want her to do, all while still keeping herself happy. This is similar to Kymera’s journey in the book Monstrous. Kymera’s “father” is evil, but since she does not know this, she tries to do what he wants him to do, all while doing what she thinks is right (Goodreads).
In conclusion, teenage rebellion is something that captivates all audiences, no matter how old or young. It is something that people can relate to, and something that keeps the viewer’s interest until the story is over.
