William Shakespeare was characterized by the fact that he doesn’t give the public and readers and gives a clear result, but he leaves it up to the person to make his or her own opinion about the specific issue. However the characters appearing in the plays are very miscellaneous. Also their diversity gives Shakespeare 's stories ambiguity and thrill. I was also intrigued by this ambiguity of Shakespeare’s works and I wanted to express my own opinion about this matter.
The misunderstanding and disobedience that occurs in the play due to their reluctance to understand each other causes many conflicts and disorientation between the core character of the play. For example, in the end of the play, Friar Lawrence admits his wrongdoing and utters "Miscarried by my fault, let my old life / Be sacrificed, some hour before his time, / Unto the rigor of severest law." Romeo’s rebellion against society's expectations and his own family, the Montagues, is because of his love. His love of Rosaline is his first demonstration of defiance.
In the book Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare, the book is a giant tragedy between two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. There are people that love each other that much. The feud, lack of parenting, and lack of communication caused Romeo and Juliet's death in the book. Throughout the book, there is a feud between the two families (the Capulets and Montagues) started before the book and there was no real history on it other than that they don't like each other and they fight in the streets often. I feel like the feud caused some of the problems because Romeo sounded like a pusher, what I mean by a pusher is he likes to push on or bend the rules so he can see what will happen.
Society norms are unwritten rules on what behaviour is acceptable amongst a community and often considered somewhat constraining. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare illustrates how Juliet, Romeo, and Friar Lawrence breaking societal norms or laws lead to the young couple’s eventual death. The play further portrays that not following such societal norms can often be the cause of life- altering events and chaos. To begin with, women are expected to be blindly obedient and show no defiance in the mostly patriarchal environment of Verona. During Act 2, Juliet agrees to marry Romeo despite being fully aware her parents would never consent to her marriage to a Montague.
