Temptation is like the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood. It has the appeal of something good, but when toyed with, it’s actually far dangerous and evil than we expected. The lure of darkness is tempting, it’s enticing, like the aroma in a chocolate factory. But how do we deal with temptation? In order to know how to deal with temptation, one must know exactly what temptation is. Temptation is defined as a desire to do something. Especially something wrong or unwise, coming in many forms. For some they can be tempted with their eyes, for others it could be the lure of sin such as sexual sin. And for others, it can be in the form of being tempted with eating a cookie. My first thought with dealing with sin- was the idea of fleeing, running away from temptation. Upon further research, I learned that Christ knows what it’s like to be tempted, for He Himself has faced that situation as well- Matthew 4. Hebrews 4:14-16 says, “Since we have a great high priest who passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
