In the play, The Crucible” , many people were hanged for being accused of witchcraft, and I believe it is all due to Abigail. For many various reasons, one being that since the very beginning of the book we read that she drank blood to kill Elizabeth Proctor, and she was always refusing to tell the truth. She had even threatened all the girls, and Betty to not expose her or they will never see the sun rise, meaning she would actually consider killing them. We also found out that Abigail had some kind of affair with John Proctor. Which is probably why she wanted to kill Elizabeth Proctor, but her affair was most likely the outcome of her drinking the blood, and accusing others of being involved in witchcraft.
During the time of the witch trials, many people were accused of being a witch or doing witchcraft and many of these accusations were fueled by past grudges. In The Crucible, Abigail has a grudge against Elizabeth, who is married to John Proctor, because she is jealous that Elizabeth is with him and Abigail loves John. Abigail sought to get rid of Elizabeth Proctor so she can be with John. All of the girls from the town of Salem went into the woods and were casting spells to try and get the boys from the town to like them. Also Abigail cast a spell to get Elizabeth Proctor away so she could be with John Proctor.
In The Crucible John Proctor started the play as a hypocrite who was unwilling to admit that he was not perfect. Once Abigail accused Elizabeth of witchcraft, John was outraged because Abigail told John that her and her friends were dancing in the woods. Infuriated that Abigail would murder innocent people John tries to turn Danforth against Abigail. When Danforth does not see a legitimate reason to stop trusting Abigail John is forced to confess his affair with Abigail. But when Elizabeth is asked about John’s affair, Elizabeth acted like she did not know what Danforth was talking about.
Proctor knows that Abigail has participated in witchcraft, but has no way to prove this. Abigail wants Elizabeth dead, and proceeds with this idea by wishing death upon her, so she can live happily ever after with John Proctor. That was a form of witchcraft so she was sentenced to be whipped or hung.

Abigail The Victim In the Crucible many are to blame for the events that occurred, but one of the one’s who seems to take blame the most is Abigail Williams. She holds most of the responsibility because she was to blame for the girls meeting with Tituba in the woods. When Parris located the girls in the woods, Abigail tries to hide her behavior because she fears that it will uncover her affair with Proctor if she confesses that she attempted to cast a spell on his wife, Elizabeth. Abigail also lies to avoid being punished for witchcraft.

She sells out her friends and towns people to the judge just so she does not die herself. This is still seen in society today in many ways, and Abigail is one of the biggest reasons for the Crucible happening. Sometimes good people can surprise you when they are put in a tough decision.
In the Crucible, many of the characters go through changes because of the intensity of the situation. But there is only one character that I think changed the most, and that is John Proctor who is the protagonist of the novel The Crucible by Arthur Miller. I think that John Procotor changes the most in the Crucible because he is in every act and mostly in every scene, and throughtout the play I see more drama (Dynamic Character) in him than any other character in the Crucible and I will go through and tell you how John Proctor changes in the Crucible. In the beginning of the play (Acts 1 and 2), we focus on John Proctor and we know that he is a good puritan citizen, a hard-working farmer and who is a husband and father.
She accuses Elizabeth of casting a spell on her that caused her to be stabbed, but she really had stabbed herself. Abigail wants revenge on Elizabeth since she is in love with Proctor and Elizabeth is in the way justifying her ethics. In The Crucible Elizabeth is loving towards others unlike Abigail who revengeful. For the duration of The Crucible Elizabeth and Abigail express very contradictory traits following the theme of protecting their integrity.
