To begin with, the creature's ugliness resembles that of a monster, which instills fear in people, causing them to flee due to his hideous appearance. As Victor creates his monster, he imagines what it is going to look like. He worked for years on this creature and he dreams of this perfect creature that is so beautiful. However, the creature does not turn out how he expects, “I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created.” (Shelley 43). According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a monster is “a person of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty” (merriam-webster.com). The monster then returns to the house, only to find that they fled from him. This angers the monster, and he, “. lit the dry branch of a tree and danced with fury around the devoted cottage.and with a loud scream I fired the straw, and heath, and bushes.The wind fanned the fire, and the cottage was quickly enveloped in flames” (Shelley 128). Anger has the ability to control people at times. However, how a person handles it reveals what type of person they are. The creature demonstrates that he is a true monster by destroying the DeLanceys' home out of anger at their abandonment. The monster's inability to control his emotions causes him to commit terrible and evil crimes. This, along with his appearance, makes him immensely frightening to everyone, as his frequent outbreaks of rage result in massive destruction. Additionally, the creature’s evil nature is seen through his deliberate murder of William. As the creature travels through the woods, he runs into a young boy. He grabs the child who tries to escape by squirming and yelling, but while doing so reveals himself as the son of M.
