A utopia is an ideally perfect place, often found in a society's social and political aspects. In addition to this idea of total perfection in a civilization, most utopian societies are strong believers of God. Similar to these ideals, Yogaville is a spiritually centered area. Yogaville was first established in 1972 in California and a year later in Connecticut. Yogaville was a kingdom for yoga lovers and in 1981 it was also established in Buckingham, Virginia, where Sri Swami Satchidananda became its “yoga master. Yogavilles’ finder, Sri Swami Satchidananda, was born on December 22, 1914, and died on August 19, 2002. Swami Satchidananda was born in Chettipalayam, Tamil Nadu. In his twenties, he worked as the manager at National Electric Works, in India. Soon, he married and had two sons. Although his early life was not related to any form of religious aspects, the death of his wife became an eye opener and he began his spiritual quest. Sri Swami Satchidananda began to travel all across India studying with religious teachers and meditating in shrines. Once he was qualified to become a religious teacher, Swami Satchidananda was taken into pre-sannyasa in the Ramakrishna Thapovanam where his name was changed to Sambasiva Chaitanya.
