Lately, police officers have been in the crosshairs of the judgmental media and the disapproving public. Often times, people very rarely consider what could be going on in that officer’s life. Not only so, but very rarely do people really know what happened in that situation. Yes, that officer shot a man or a woman. Yes, he or she was not armed. Does society condemn that officer, and threaten to try him or her with murder? The media tells us, yes society does, but there is always another side to the story. Does each officer involved in the, supposed, murder of an African American boy, or any individual for that matter, get tried with murder when they were only doing their jobs? If the public knew all of the information, then the actions of the officers may have been justified. Without deadly force, they may not return safely home to their families. Officer safety would be at risk if deadly force was not an option. When suspects act in certain manors, examples would be lunging at the officer, disobeying direct commands, or digging around in his or her vehicle while the officer is walking up to the vehicle, this may raise the stress level of the officer and the situation. Police officers are entitled to protect his or her lives when the need calls, just as the rest of us are. “These officers are just defending themselves against being attacked.
