Abstract This study examines the qualities needed to enter the executive assistant field. What you will endure, how to do the job and how to get into this work force. It explains what to expect in this job, and how to be prepared for it. Executive assistants have many job duties ranging from answering phone calls, to clerical work such as setting the executives daily schedule. Research shows that the amount of executive assistants are predicted to grow by 12 percent in America. Without the executive assistant, things in the office would be messy and unorganized. Your job status can range from manager in a different department, to an executive assistant. An alternative career for an executive assistant is a general office clerk. The general office clerk sorts the mail, copies and files records, schedules appointments and answers the phone. I see this career as having many advantages and disadvantages. Becoming too wrapped up in your work happens to be one of the biggest disadvantages, from a personal standpoint. An advantage would have to be the fact that you get to dress nicely, along with being in a field that I find personally rewarding and fulfilling. The outlook on this career is quite positive; executive assistants are expected to grow by 12 percent (according to the BLS.) Although I can say that the income, or pay for this field is not one of my top priorities, It is fulfilling to learn that this is a decent paying occupation. This, is going to be a bit hard for me but with a few organizational techniques I can be on track. Supervisors will likely rely on executive assistants to keep the entire working day in order. A few ways on how they are expected to do this are by scheduling meetings, billing, travel plans, etc. Terrific organizational skills will definitely be required. Along organizing you’ll come across computers. A well-known electronic in this day and age. Computer skills are heavily needed throughout an executive assistants day, writing emails, faxing, creating spreadsheets are things they use computers
