Introduction

I will be explaining briefly the four major developmental theories by four different sources. Also I will be explaining that how I am going to practically apply the four major developmental theories in my teaching field. Firstly I will be explaining about the Psychosocial Developmental theories Of Erik Erikson’s. Secondly I will explain the Cognitive theories of Jean Piaget. Thirdly I will explain the Moral Developmental theories of Lawrence Kohlberg. The last theory will be Psychosexual Development theory of Sigmund Freud.

Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial Development

His third stage, Concrete operational stage is the stage where children start to think and solve problems in a more reasonable way rather than assuming or predicting the solution. In order to develop this stage we can prepare activities which give them hands on experience, having them the chance of experiencing while doing, learning and thinking will also be taking place. In future it will happen them to think both logically and hypothetical thinking, though it is not developed yet. A wide variety of concrete experiences help the child learn the use of manipulative, working in groups to get experience seeing from another's point of view, taking them to field trips which will give them the chance to explore and think of what they see and getting a chance to experience. Also by giving cubes or small objects while they do their counting or addition will help them to understand to figure out the answer using these concrete objects, having visual understanding of the values of number
