I really enjoyed the class discussion about their different job organization. I will like to discuss my job organization structure. My past job Publix we used a departmentalization organizational structure. Publix is an employee owned supermarket. We are departmentalization organizational structure because we are separated by product and service.

Nordstrom is a large specialty retailer that works exceptionally hard to meet the needs of its customers. It is a company that is proud of its small Seattle roots, but is always looking to be fresh and innovative to give the customers what they need and want (About Nordstrom, 2017, p.1). The store is growing economically. In 2016 they generated 14.44 billion dollars in sales, which is almost up a whole billion dollars from the year prior (Nordstrom Inc. 2017, p.1). Nordstrom is growing: They currently have 347 stores in 40 states and Canada.
For the business-level, Trader Joe’s adopted a differentiation focus strategy. According to our textbook with this strategy, Trader Joe’s seeks to differentiate in its target market. They rely on providing better service than broad-based competitors. Specifically, they focus on the special needs of the buyer in other segments (Dess, Page 159). Joe’s differentiates its self from other grocers by providing a unique shopping experience fortified with their private label goods and great service from their crew members.
Multichannel system is when companies use one or more than one marketing channels to interact, promote and sale their products to consumers (p.192). It is an effective way because it can reach a wide range of variety consumers. For example, Dicks sporting uses an omnichannel sale approach. Omnichannel marketing, uses multiple channels to “work seamlessly together and match each target customer’s preferred ways of doing business, delivering the right product information and customer service regardless of whether customers are online, in the store, or on the phone” (p.193). Dick’s sporting offers the same experience, whether one buys online, in store or on the phone.
Furthermore, Macys is involved in retailing through its websites and stores; participating in the sale of clothes, cosmetics, accessories home décor, furniture, appliances and food. Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) is one of the most recognized discount retailer that provides upscale, trendy merchandise at affordable prices. The company was founded by Draper Dayton in 1902. The first store was opened in Roseville, Minnesota during 1962. As a result of Target’s continued success, its parent company, The Dayton Hudson Corporation was renamed to Target Corporation in 2000. Currently, Target is the second largest retailer and mass merchandiser in the United States.
Comcast is the largest internet provider in the world. Comcast is split into two businesses Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal. Comcast has 5 segments total which the film entertainment segment provides fourth most in revenue and operating income. We will be analyzing Comcast’s film entertainment segment. Comcast currently has the 3rd most market share with 14.9%, which is behind Walt Disney Company 19.3% and 21st
Virgin Group began its business with a magazine which was named the Student. The next venture was a mail order record company named. Therefore it can be sales that Virgin Company entered the market with a magazine business which was its market penetration strategy and then went on to the next stage which is product development through Virgin Records. With the establishment of its record label the company entered in to new markets. Hence the market development stage was also achieved by the Virgin Group fairly quickly.
Question I took a trip of I-Star which is a departmental store. It comprises of different sections which includes eatables, beverages and cosmetics. Its way of marketing is very attractive. Different sections are highlighted through relevant posters and background pictures. All sections in this departmental store are designed in way that they attract every new comer to it but cosmetics section is designed in a way that it is prominent and visible from every side.
3.3 Customers and Competitors Customers Amazon customers consist of upper & middle class social groups who have inclination towards using E-commerce portals and are comfortable with online shopping. Majority of the customers are professionals or businessmen who are busy with their business/Job & find it convenient to purchase anything online rather than visiting the physical outlet in order to save time & money. Furthermore, the customers might also be the ones who are searching for deals.
