Explain The Three Primary Objectives Of Research Ethics

151 Words1 Pages
Research that involves any human subject or participants raises ethical, legal, social and political issues. There are 3 primary objectives to research ethics, firstly to protect human participants from not being coerced into participating in research. In recent years ethical concerns have come to the forefront across the research community. Ethical standards also require that researchers not put participants in a situation where they might be at risk of harm as a result of their participation. Harm can be defined as both physical and psychological. The second objective is to ensure that research is conducted in a way that serves interests of individuals, groups and/or society as a whole and finally examine specific research with ethical soundness.
