Strength and Limitation of Social Policies and Related Acts
The multiculturalism policy promotion attracts new immigrants and makes Canada unique, the land of every nation and the land of diversity. In 1971, Canada adopted a Multiculturalism Policy and in 1988 the Multiculturalism Act was proclaimed at the national, provincial and local levels that aimed to insure the surviving of languages, culture, and value and keeping employment equality and diversity at the government and nongovernment sector (Garcea, 2006). The multiculturalism policy is both strength and a limitation. The strengths of the policy are to promote and empower integration by eliminating different barriers and make immigrants involved in Canadian life, creating a sense of belongingness, it promote the freedom of existence, intensify and share their culture and heritage, the right to equal protection under the low, promote the use of immigrant language and capacitate the level of English and French language and assist different institutions to accept and serve …show more content…

The selection procedure and eligibility criteria are included in the Immigration and Refugee protection Act (S.C 2001, C.27). However, the program has its own limitation because these professionals do not met with their dream job, engaged in surviving job and stay without job. To resolve employment related challenge the government has revised the policy. These policy and program changes such as decreasing the occupation list from 35 to 24,language requirement in either French or English at Canadian benchmark level seven, giving priority to Canadian work experience and younger applicant age group 18-35 and providing credential assessments before coming Canada.
