Sports should not be coed. There are many reasons why boys and girls should be separated in sports. Some of these reasons range from the difference in physical demands in different sports to preventing injuries due to the difference in skill and size of boy and girl athletes. In addition, the physical contact demands of sports could cross the lines of bullying amongst co-ed athletes and maybe even go beyond the lines of sexual harassment. Issues may rise beyond the field of play as athletes may be picked on or harassed from the opposite gender athletes through contact at school or social media. One of the more specific reasons are that girls have different physical abilities then boys due to boys being bigger, faster, stronger, and, often times, more physically aggressive than girls. Boys might let up or not play as hard to avoid hurting the girls or they may go out of their way to prove that the opposite gender should not be playing their sport which could lead to injury. …show more content…
There would have to be a separate changing room to separate the boy and girl athletes. Another reason is that it's unfair for girls to have to compete for a spot on a girls' team if are boys trying to join a girls' team as well. Also, for unskilled or small boys competing against an athletic girl on a boys' team is not fair. For example, in either case, there would be less opportunities for boys to play boy sports and girls to play girl sports. If the girl made a mistake her teammates could get more mad at her. But if a boy makes a mistake they might just tell them, oh hey you got this next time were if it’s a girl they could get madder
