Have you ever dropped out of school? Imagine the sound of laughter when all the seniors are having a graduation celebration but you are not able to because of the low scoring in exams. Students at age sixteen are dropping out of school which may interfere with them having the ability to finish high school. Listening to the laughter and excitement will make you feel ashamed since you threw aways your chances of graduating. You might as well think twice before feeling like you can choose not to be in school, but also have the ability to get a good career. Raising the compulsory age of education tends to increase the graduation and retention rates, which leads to more students finishing school and having the chance to get good careers. In the article, President Push States to Raise Dropout Age, it states, “What we found both in national and international research is that when you raise the compulsory age of education, the graduation and retention rates will in fact increase.” Raising the compulsory age of education can make a big difference of students staying in school. Having a strict age of dropping out of school, can change the thinking of students that are planning to drop out.
