In the twenty first century violence is everywhere it is in the tv programs we watch to the history books we read. It's even to one of the largest growing industries today, the video games industry. Video games do not cause violence but it is up for you to decide. Violent video games may make up a small amount of the majority or games. according to entertainment software association states that only twelve percent of parents lets their children play rated M video games. video games could also be compared to a movie , yes in a movie, you do not control what your doing but you know what you are going to see if it is a rated R movie. Some people believe it shouldn't be the parents job to check the rating and individualize it for there child. They believe it should be the industries job because parents make bad choices due to the fact they might be uninformed about the topic at hand. Like with a movie you wouldn't take a four year old to see a action movie with lots of explosions but you would let a teenage go see the same movie. Same with a video game you shouldn't let a four year old play dead space but you might let a fourteen year old play the game. It has been proven that when we are younger we do not understand what is right from wrong.
The rating system is put in place so that parents can see what the game might have in it and what kind of content it will have. Some people say the rating system may be biased or too lenient because it can be diffrent from game to game. The problem is that some people do not know that the rating system is set up by a more than just one person and every game is rated by a group of three trained people to insure that the game gets a fair rating.
