Annotated Bibliography After I did research on experiencing sexual harassment in the gym, I was able to learn a few new things. The first thing I learned was that many women have encountered an experience like this in the gym. This topic is something that really upsets me because I have always found the gym to be very therapeutic. However, many other women cannot say the same thing. They have unfortunately experienced sexual harassment and violence which has prevented them from returning to working out. I think it will help women know and feel as if they are not alone. Another piece of information I learned was that some schools informed children at a young age about sexual harassment and abuse. By doing this, studies showed that they were able to reduce violence in long-term situations. I think this should be talked about more and possibly implemented into more school districts in order to keep people safe. I was also able to learn how to be aware of my surroundings in order to stay safe. One example is to always stay alert and if someone is making you feel uncomfortable, tell someone. It is better to be safe than sorry. After reading these sources, I still strongly believe that women can feel in danger in the gym. Men and even other women can make inappropriate comments that make people uncomfortable and I feel like this is seen immensely in the gym. Overall, I was satisfied with the sources I did find. This article also talks about the definition of sexual harassment and how studies claim it is too “complicated or confusing” to define. It also focuses on our rights given in the amendments and how that protects us from this type of harassment. This article provides steps to avoid sexual harassment and what to do if you witness it. This article is very clear and has multiple good sources to back it up. I believe that it is credible because it pulls its information from Title IX which is originally found in the Constitution. Since I am trying to write about a difficult topic, it would be good to define what sexual harassment is and I think this source does a good job at
