The Jaunt In ”The Jaunt” there is two parallel-running storylines, and it can be seen in the story where the father called Mark tells his children about to traveling to Mars and where he talking about a scientist named Victor Carune who invents a teleportation. The teleportation teleported a person from one place to another. This part of the story takes place in the future, around the year 2307.

The other story is about the father and his family who would travel to Mars because on the Earth, there was lack on oil and the water was contaminated. When the family travel to Mars, they should subjected to something sleeping gas, after that they could travel to Mars. When the father wakes, he discover that his curious son held his breath while being administered the general anesthesia in order to experience the trip …show more content…

The genre science fiction is a genre where the action takes place in an imaginary environment in which science, and in particular technological developments, has undergone more or less significant changes with effect on both society and individuals. A think that you can see it is a science fiction text is that the story takes place in the future. The present in the text are 2307, and there can you see that it is a future text.

There are three important persons in the story. One of them are the father Mark, he is the protagonist. Mark have wife called Marily. Together they have two children, Ricky and Patricia. Ricky is also one of the important persons. He is a round character, because he develops in the text. At the beginning, he not means a lot, but in the end, he gets a bigger meaning, because he became insane of the teleportation. Ricky is twelve years old.
