I’m sure you all are curious as to what could possibly happen if many of these species were to become extinct. As I’ve discovered through the World Wildlife Fund, ecosystems supply both nature and people with food, health, and fresh water. A handful of species help serve as indicators, provide nutrients, and maintain a healthy ecosystem. Being an indicator means that some animals can provide information to us so that we may determine if there are problems with our current environment. For instance, polar bears and frogs have the ability to help control such problems like climate change, disease outbreak, and pollution. Some species can provide nutrients as well. Turtles have the ability to digest their food at expedited rates which become recycled nutrients or fertilizers for other species. Some animals are even important for ecosystems.
