Science Fiction:
This book is a science fiction novel because of its futuristic technology. In this novel, the VirtNet is a alternate world in which any harm that occurs in this artificial game can be applied to real life. A quotation from the novel that helps prove this is “Finally, a light appeared before him and grew until it pulled him back into the full world of the VirtNet” (Dashner 138). This quotation proves that the VirtNet is a virtual world, one that currently is not present in society today.
