Growing up, I was never really interested in the agriculture world and what it had to offer me. That was until I walked into my principles of ag class my freshman year and I found my pas- sion through agriculture. This is where I figured out that I am going to become a ag teacher to keep agriculture alive in the eyes of our youth, and advocating the importance of our farmlands.
How I started my love for agriculture was through the amazing organization; FFA. Also, another factor that helped me pursue my passion were my ag teachers, they taught me how agri- culture is present in my life and they got me involved in the FFA. Even close to home, in the state of Texas, the majority of the population does not understand how important agriculture is to our communities and the well-being of its people. I am a firm believer that Agriculture is often de- ceived as such a horrible thing that is ran by a bunch of close-minded “country folk”, when that is far from the truth. In today’s society, people are being blinded by the false accusations the me- dia gives agriculture.
Often, my classmates think all I do is tend to my show animals and work on a farm, when in reality it’s so much more. It is hard to believe that agriculture can affect us everyday of our lives because we tend to forget about what all agriculture covers. It is not just raising livestock, or tending to crops, it provides you numerous opportunities. Each agricultural community in the United States is unique in its own way. Categories range from Agricultural Business to Agricul- tural Economics, Animal Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Mechanics, Bioengineering, Flori- culture, Natural Resources and Ecology Systems, Leadership Development and many
