The Farm Service Agency was formed to support farmers in times of need by offering loans, payments, and disaster relief programs. Because the risks that can come with growing food depend on the economy, food preferences and acts of nature, the government felt it was necessary to protect the people and operations that provide food for Americans. The controversies that have arisen in the last few decades regarding the FSA center on the way the assistance has been distributed and the fact that Americans now import much of their foodstuffs. According to the FSA, their agency provides services to farm operations including loans, commodity price supports, conservation payments, and disaster assistance.

Caleb Schwenk HDC English 3 Crabtree 2/13/2023 The Deconstruction of “Old Ironside” and its meaning The Poem “Old Ironsides' ' is about a ship that the author would rather have sunk instead of letting it be torn up. Old Ironsides was the name given to the U.S.S. Constitution, it was given to her during battle with the British in 1812. Old ironsides was written by Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. in 1830. The author read about the decommisioning of the Constitution and was shocked by the news it would be scrapped, so, he wrote this poem to protest the descision (Novick, 4).
Again, I think this is a great opportunity for students to see first-hand the process of farming or growing a produce, the work it takes to package it and get it sent out to the manufactures who are selling the product. If a student has the aspiration or goal to become a farmer, this experience is one that introduce them to the work and type of environment in which they will be.
Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture (BRWIA) is an organization that works to promote awareness and works to strengthen the High Country’s local food system by supporting those women who are involved with agriculture ("Who We Are - Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture", 2013). BRWIA supports those women and their families by providing education, resources, and skills related to sustainable food and agriculture ("Who We Are - Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture", 2013). In their mission statement, BRWIA is able to accomplish their goals by “providing opportunities for women farmers to share knowledge, hosting a Farm Tour, providing opportunities for consumers to learn about self-sufficiency and connecting everyone to our local agricultural heritage and landscape” ("Who We Are - Blue Ridge Women in
According to George Washington, “The basis of our political system is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government.” Replace ‘people’ with ‘students’ and this becomes a powerful declaration about the politics within the organization of the California Future Farmers of America (FFA). As with any political arena the FFA is an organization where power bases and allies are developed; however, it is the students who define those relationships. The five underlying principles of the political frame are clearly present within the FFA.
However, FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA has a wider range, this includes business owners, doctors, teachers and much more. Future Farmers of America is an extracurricular activity for students interested in agricultural and leadership. This organization has been around since 1928 and was was founded by young teenagers . According to research, the young group of boys had a purpose which was to” prepare future generations challenges of feeding a growing population, they taught that agriculture is more than planting and
The Civil War had already ended when agriculture began to develop, bringing about changes across the country, particularly in the West. American agriculture began in rural regions that were urbanized, resulting in a surge of people in the fields and cities where employment and hard labor were supplied manually. It has grown significantly as a result of advanced economic and social changes towards its industrialization for expansion. It increased production among the families of farmers, who served through hard and difficult situations. Throughout the period of 1865-1900, American agriculture changed rural inhabited areas, expanding prospects for migration and urbanization, industrialization growth with advanced machinery, and evolved farming
As a State FFA Officer, we are the greatest representatives of Agriculture in not only our state, but the nation as well. As agriculturalists, farmers, businessmen and women, government officials, family and friends follow us throughout our year, they will be highly influenced by our example. This year as a State Officer I have a great hope to advocate for agriculture. It is essential to help promote the image of agriculture in a positive way, sharing great stories, ideas and future plans for this industry. The objective as a State FFA Officer is to inspire the people we meet by showing them the opportunities found in agriculture.
Not only are these farms building blocks, but these local farms help with environmental contamination, rural economics, and exploited, immigrant work force. Local farms also bring a community together through local food as well as community health. Having fresh produce helps prevent diet-related diseases, which is a very important issue in America today. Through local food, people bond with their community as well as their food; for instance, knowing and understanding how the food is produced and accessed allows people to be more aware of their community and health. However, not all communities today have this way of thinking, many communities suffer from food deserts, when supermarkets and alike leave an area.
Have you ever been a part of something that made you feel special and accepted? Did you look forward to going to meetings to see what your next fun adventure with the group would be? You may not realize it at the time, but these groups or clubs are teaching you a variety of skills and lessons, that you’ll continue to use throughout your life. I believe that the FFA organization is the best group to be a part of. Not only do you learn so many helpful skills, but it goes above and beyond teaching the agricultural ways of our country through contests, social events, and even giving awards and scholarships!

This great organization is based on agricultural education that provides life-changing experiences for its members.
Agriculture Education is attached to the National FFA Organization. I have been an active member of Seneca East FFA Chapter and the National FFA Organization for three years. I have earned my “Greenhand” and “Chapter” degrees and I am currently working on my “State” FFA degree. To be honored with these degrees, you must be an active member by participating in contests and the community. You must have a specific amount of money from your Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) project as well.
The standing committee that I work with is the House Committee of Agriculture. This committee is one of the most important committees in the United States. It deals with food safety, The Farm Bill, biotechnology and more. There is a lot of legislation passed regarding agriculture. Agriculture also increases the number for job opportunities in my home district, especially West
