For generations, my family has built their lives around the agriculture industry. Carrying on the tradition, both of my parents are employed through this growing industry. My mother is a grain marketer and my father is a full-time grain farmer. Growing up in a farming family, I have learned many valuable lessons about success and leadership. My family has always pushed me to be better at whatever task I was trying to accomplish. Being the oldest child, I have always felt I should set a good example for my younger brother, so he can follow in my footsteps and be a smarter, more successful person.

Agriculture Education is attached to the National FFA Organization. I have been an active member of Seneca East FFA Chapter and the National FFA Organization for three years. I have earned my “Greenhand” and “Chapter” degrees and I am currently working on my “State” FFA degree. To be honored with these degrees, you must be an active member by participating in contests and the community. You must have a specific amount of money from your Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) project as well. These projects teach students responsibility, hard work, and how to manage finances. The FFA also preaches their motto, “Leaning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve.” I interpret this motto simply: with every new project, you must accomplish it with a purpose. With every project I take on, I live by this motto; especially in my community service projects. I have served as the Seneca East FFA secretary for the past two years and my job is to keep and accurate record of all meetings and correspond with the other members of our organization. I was also able to attend the 2016 Ohio State FFA Convention where the President explained leadership positons should not be desired for the title, you should be eager to work with your members and do your job to the best of your ability.
