Growing up with a single mother showed me the realities and challenges of having to support a family- especially with no college degree. Furthermore, nobody in my family has ever attended college. Even when my Mom remarried, my step-dad’s education was limited, due to being a high school dropout. There was no path for me to follow, so I know I have to be the one to forge my own path in education. I am inspired to do what my parents were unable to do.Therefore I will take advantage of any opportunities that come my way.
There has never been a time I did not strive to further my education since I genuinely enjoy learning. Taking eight AP classes and two COS summer courses was not drudgery. Instead, it was a challenge I set for myself to in …show more content…

These organizations have seen me through the ups and downs, but, most importantly, they have developed me as a leader. Through FFA, I have competed in Citrus Judging, Dairy Cattle Judging, Impromptu Speaking, Creed Speaking, Opening Closing Ceremonies, and Cooperative Marketing. Just last year, I placed as the first high individual in California for Cooperative Marketing at both Fresno State Field Day and State Finals. It is an accomplishment I take pride in given the hours of practice and studying as well as support of my AG Advisor. Aside from the competitions, I was also involved in the FFA leadership . As a Freshman, I won the position of Treasurer- the first office I held in high school. The role educated me on the realities of being in leadership: mistakes are bound to happen, people will not always like the decisions made, and cooperating with a team requires effort from everyone. I saw the transition from being a member to an officer up close, and it is something I’d never take back. During 11th grade, I was elected Vice President of my FFA Chapter and FFA Section all the while becoming Vice President for Key Club too. Through Key Club, I had the opportunity to volunteer at local events throughout the valley including Relay-For-Life, Bowl-A-Thon, the Candy Cane Lane Parade, Food Link, March of Dimes, the Visalia Triathlon, and various elementary carnivals. As
