FLSA of 1938 The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, otherwise called the FLSA of 1938, insured for kids to have salary wages for their work. This aided not only the United States, but also most of the world. This essay will describe what happened in 1938, analyze wages and time of the child workers, and explain the Act of 1938 (FLSA). The Act of 1938 was crafted by Hugo Black, a politician at the time. The Act rose everyone’s eyebrows. Then it was highlighted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.(“Fair”) The 1938 Act was then passed by Congress in order to establish a minimal living standards for laborers committed directly or indirectly in business.(“Infoplease”) The Act is to help regulate employment and wages of working children. Each state, at first, had different versions of these laws. But still both federal and state laws apply.(“The World”) This concludes the beginning years for the Act of 1938. …show more content…

One kind of requirement made by the FLSA, was the wage and time. In 1938, the beginning, minimal wage was set at $0.25, and time was 44 hours maximum. In 1945 it was changed to $0.40 and 40 hours maximum.(“Infoplease”) This stayed around the same requirements throughout the 1900’s . After a while, the amending took place. The Department of Labor’s and Hour Division, the DOL, proposed the amendations. The proposal took place on the twenty-eighth of July, 2008. Then, it was not till the fifth of May, 2011 they began amending the Act of 1938. The DOL added what the final rule to the act. This rule stated, “tips are the property of the employee,” “the FLSA does not maximize the percentage on mandatory tools including, employees who receive tips,” “the FLSA requires employers to notify employees of any required tip=pool contribution amount,” and “employers may take the tip credit only for the amount of tips each employee ultimately receives.”(“Amendments”) This finalizes all of the changes the act
