Community service is defined as voluntary work intended to help people in a particular area. The main goal of community service is to leave a positive impact on the world, making it a stronger and healthier place. Forcing a community service requirement is one way to cause students to rebel and become less likely to volunteer when they grow older. In Ray Bradbury’s novel, “Fahrenheit 451”, the society has very strict rules which citizens are forced to follow. As a result Guy Montag, the main character, sets out to rebel against these rules, causing mayhem in society. Even though forcing somebody to do something that should be their own choice might cause rebellion and controversy, community service is a way to bring joy and fulfillment into your life.
