People have complaints about not wanting to read in school or wanting to learn. However, every time people do have to, they continue to ask the same question: “How is this important?” Reading the novel, “ relentlessly reading” by Ray Bradbury mentions how reading and retaining knowledge was extraneous in their society. Also, the dangers that come with it if not met. Reading and retaining knowledge are two factors that are important in a society because it helps people have a better understanding of how to live, and having no knowledge can lead to pain or crime. Reading and knowledge in a society gives people a better understanding of how to live. When a person does not know how to live, they often live in fear or “need not to be let alone.” This means that without an understanding of how to live, confusion can take over and fear of not knowing what to do. This expresses how one may feel when it comes to having no direction or information in living in a society. One may feel lost, hopeless, despondent, stuck, and even have low self-esteem. Consequently, it can also come from not knowing a person’s self and having no social life.
