The copyright owner for all of the Disney studio productions is trying to sue Professor Eric Faden, the maker of Fair(y) Use Tale. Faden made a mashup of movies from Disney to express the importance and explain fair use and copyright to the public. Keep in mind that all of these movies have been seen by the public and available for many years. My client would like to claim fair use for this video and here is why. The purpose of Eric making this video was to teach people about fair use and copyright. He is a professor that specializes in english and teaches a variety of courses in film/media introductory and advanced production seminars. This means the mashup of these movies would have to be altered in some way, and it was. If you go back and watch the film it has different parts of many movies (changing it up). Faden also adds in some bold orange text in sections of the video to clarify his message. That would also be considered changing it to make it his own. Another requirement for his work to be claimed fair use is it has to be noncommercial. In other words he was not allowed to make any money off of this film. He could not profit in any way or else he could be in some big trouble. Well it 's a good thing he didn 't do that! Going back to putting the work on the public domain, he was selflessly creating this video for others to use. He did not financially profit or even make a cent off this video. You might be thinking, what about amount and sustainability? Let me start off by saying he showed roughly seven and a half minutes of Disney 's clipped movies. Let me also remind you of how many disney movies and shows and number of works there are! There are tons! Disney is a huge corporation with lots and lots of works. So when Faden uses seven and a half minutes of film do you really think that is even going to put a dent in the amount that has already been
