Cinderella is a fairy tale that has been passed down for many generations. The tale itself has hundreds of variations that are all centered around the same idea. It remains popular for people of all ages due to its ability to relate to countless different situations. One of the most known Cinderella stories deals with a young girl who is treated very poorly by her family. When she finds out that there is going to be a big ball in her town, she wishes to go.
Cinderella's step family treats her very poorly so she runs away into forest and meets a charming prince who she then falls in love with. The prince assists she goes to a ball being held soon to see her again. Right when Cinderella gives up all hope to go to the ball her fairy godmother appears and makes her a beautiful dress, glass shoes, and a carriage out of a pumpkin with a spell that will make everything disappear at midnight. Ella goes to the ball and as soon as she knows it she is at the ball dancing with the prince. She was having so much fun she barely notices it is about to strike midnight and rushes out leaving only her glass slipper to track her.
She longs for love and affection. She finds it when at the ball, but when she has to leave, she leaves in a hurry and one of the slippers that she is wearing gets left behind at the ball and the Prince finds and starts to look for her. Even though they were separated for short periods of time they still find each other in the end. The Prince takes her to his palace and they get married. This general plot stays the same for all versions of the story, but the differences between Disney’s Cinderella and Grimm’s Cinderella are striking, and they deserve through examination.
“Cinderella” is a tale about a young girl who recovers through support, unlike Robert Louis Stevenson’s main
The original Cinderella story ends not at all like the Disney version. “When the wedding with the King 's son had to be celebrated, the two false sisters came and wanted to get into favor with Cinderella and share her good fortune. When the betrothed couple went to church, the elder was at the right side and the younger at the left, and the pigeons pecked out one eye of each of them. Afterwards as they came back, the elder was at the left, and the younger at the right, and then the pigeons pecked out the other eye of each. And thus, for their wickedness and falsehood, they were punished with blindness as long as they lived.”
The movie “Ever After” by Andy Tennant, and The short story Cinderella by Perrault, are both very different takes on the story of Cinderella. Perrault’s version of the story is the story that most of us have grown up with. It’s captivating and magical, but also it’s very one-dimensional, with a “magic pumpkin” and a “fairy godmother”. While, Tennant’s version is by far more realistic in nature, there is no magic pumpkin, but there is a prince who becomes her husband, an evil stepmother, and a pretty, kind hearted girl who slaves away doing as her stepmother demands. The “fairy godmother” does not randomly appear from no where, in “Ever After”, instead she is replaced by the great inventor Leonardo Da Vinic.
Have you ever wondered where tales like Disney’s Cinderella came from? Believe or not, that version of Cinderella was written in France around the 1800’s. But that version is not the only Cinderella story. There are over 900 different versions. And in this essay of mine I’ll compare and contrast four different Cinderella stories all from different cultures and different times of history.

Once the prince is finished with the two evil sisters, Cinderella comes out and while taking off her dirty shoe, her foot fits perfectly into the shoe. The prince and Cinderella are finally together, the prince knows Cinderella was the mystery women he had been searching for all along since her foot fit into the shoe. Cinderella and the prince return to his kingdom and live happily ever after. Cinderella once again breaks down and explains her entire life story to a stranger she just met. The floating woman once again gave a small twitch of annoyance, but again it was only detected by the man hiding in the brush. The woman smiles down at Cinderella and flicks her wand at Cinderella. Like magic the blonde’s clothes change to an elegant blue dress and all the dirt and grime of her life is washed away only to be replaced by makeup and cleanliness. A gasp escapes Cinderella’s lips, but the huntsman’s eyes just narrow in suspicion.
A Cinderella Story The Cinderella story is a popular archetype that has been present in almost every culture, representing a girl's dream of achieving a happy and wealthy marriage. However, a careful reading of some "Cinderella" folk tales reveals instances of abuse and even incest. In the past, for many girls, the only relief available from abusive households was to marry well. In modern times, some authors present the Cinderella myth in a positive light, while others offer a more feminist interpretation.
