The word “Feminism” has been re-discussed many times, and is one of the most prevalent and ubiquitous topics amongst us in the 21st century. Although it is such a simple word that can be blurted out by anyone, it carries such a heavy weight. Unknowingly, we have altered the definition of feminism. Some could say that “Feminism” means females get the upper hand and should rightly be treated better. However, others could say that “Feminism” means men should be the more respected sex. It is simply absurd how people chose to use this universal term lightly. Despite these multitudes of definitions, my version is to believe that “Feminism” means that both sexes are to be treated fairly, politically, economically and socially. I stand strongly that women are not the weaker sex but the equal one. …show more content…

In “Hunger Games”, a film based off one of the best selling books, the strongest and only female survivor is Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who is a woman. My main point in mentioning all these- in this day and age, women are portraying such powerful and highly skilled characters, which reflects the fact that women are up and coming. In the olden days, women are not taken seriously, casting them in such demure roles. Gradually, this has taken a turn, as women now play protagonist roles in award-winning movies. The “strength” of a sex is reflected in these characters. There are many stereotypes in believing that men should play knights and fighters because they are physically stronger, or men should be doctors because they are more intellectually capable. I strongly and personally feel that these stereotypes should be ignored, as all stereotypes should be. Although I can give a billion more examples to prove this stand- these examples are already suffice in showing women are not the weaker
