This is a nonprofit music charity foundation funded by the everyday public people like you and I (Fender Music Foundation). The Fender Music Foundation provides instruments to music educators and music programs all around the world, including schools and one on one instruction (Fender Music Foundation). The foundation is regularly contacted by teachers and program directors in need of support (Fender Music Foundation). Each donation goes to helping schools keep music programs, instruments, and those who want to learn outside of school get the teachings they desire (Fender Music Foundation). The founder was Larry Thomas, the current Guitar Center CEO (Guitar Center Music Foundation). The foundation then became active in 2006, managing to raise 765,000 dollars over the course of the year (Guitar Center Music Foundation). The foundation then awarded their first grant at the end of 2006, however the grants were not cash (Inside Philanthropy). The grants were in the form of donated gifts and music instruction programs (Inside Philanthropy). The program is geared towards schools in need of the program and schools striving to keep their current music programs due to budget cuts (Guitar Center Music Foundation). The program is also towards the youth trying to get into music outside of school through private tutors (Guitar Center Music Foundation). The foundation’s current support currency is barely used and slightly used instruments and equipment (Inside Philanthropy). These instruments are mostly acoustic, brass and percussion. Each cost about fifty dollars to get sent out to the selected school, person, or program (Guitar Center Music Foundation).
