Daphnia Magna are small crustaceans that are excellent for observing the effect of depressants on their nervous system. The purpose of this specific experiment is to observe the effect of ethanol, aspirin, and caffeine on daphnia’s heart rate. Not only do these chemicals affect heart rate, but they also affect the frequency of reproduction, number of eggs produced, and body structure. Pesticides similar to these chemicals can be released into the environment and daphnia re useful in monitoring toxicity levels. Thirteen years after Wilson published his book, a movie based on the book was filmed. The story revolves around a twelve-year-old boy named Billy Colman who works and saves money over a few years in order to buy two Redbone Coon hounds. Within the time Billy spends with his dogs, he experiences both memorable and scary moments. He spent most of his time hunting with his hounds, until one day, he entered a coon hunting championship.
Introduction- We did an experiment about different types of movements called kinesis and taxis. Kinesis is the change in the speed of movement or the rate of turning which is intensified by a stimulus (Meyer, 2006). Taxis is movement towards or away from a stimulus (Meyer, 2006). We did our experiment using Sowbugs.

This book is mainly about a kid who is trying really hard to get two new dogs which he saw in a newspaper. He really has wanted dogs for a while and found some for a good price. Billy wants two new dogs very badly, but his grandpa can’t afford them.

In this experiment, we observed the relationship between the number of domatia, the number of mites and the size of leaves of water oaks (Quercus nigra L.) and sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua). Domatia are small chambers often located on the lower surface of leaves that serve as homes for predaceous mites. In return, the mites protect the plant from herbivory and pathogen attack. This type of interaction between plants and mites is a form of mutualism, more specifically facultative mutualism. Mutualism is an interaction between individuals of different species in which both species benefit.
To begin, in this lab we studied the structures of leaves under a microscope. A leaf is best described as a major photosynthetic organ of green plants. Plants carry out the process of photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and glucose for usable energy. The arching is actually a mutation. Generally, this species was known to have erect fronds. Boston Ferns are actually a very good choice for an indoors plant because they remove toxins out of the air and the plant is safe for kids or pets.
As I began to read Where the Red Fern Grows, I started to wonder what the purpose of this book was. Was it to teach a lesson or just to simply tell a story? After I had finished Where The Red fern Grows, I realized the answer to my question. Wilson Rawls, you are the author of this novel, and I now realize that there was more than just one purpose to you writing this novel. The purpose of you creating this novel wasn’t just to teach people to never give up, it was to also teach them to always try their hardest, and to live in the moment.
The purpose of this lab was to test the effect of pollution on algae growth. Through a series of experiments that lasted a month, four of the six hypotheses were proven to be correct or partially correct. The first hypothesis stated that if 0.5 mL of salt was added to algae, then the algae would grow slower than the positive control. This was proven correct, as shown by the difference of the data from the positive control and the container with 0.5 mL of salt in it.
Two of the same types of plants were used, in order for the results to be reliable. One of the plants was labelled DISTILLED whereas the other was ACIDIC, so the results don’t get mixed. The DISTILLED plant was used as a controlled variable, where normal spring water was used (pH 7.3) The ACIDIC plant was the one the experiment had taken place on, this was where lemon water was used (pH 2.0) Throughout the experiment pictures were taken, so one will be able to notice the colour change on the acidic plants, as it had started to slowly die. With both plants you are able to notice that they had both started to grow flowers, but more the spring watered plant than that on the lemon juice watered one. The results of the plant growth was recorded to we would be able to notice the amount it had grown, this would be the water compared to lemon juice.
