Feud Vs. Tragedy
“For never a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo”(Shakespeare V. III.310). In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet many characters lose their lives due to feuds that occur. The base of the family feuds goes back many years between the Capulet and Montague families. The two families forbid their only children from marrying each other. The feud runs so deep that it leads to death in the end for several characters. When people have such deep rooted hate that leads to feuds, tragedy occurs. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet , the theme feuds between people end in tragedy can be seen through Mercutio, Romeo, and Juliet. O, tell not me of fear”(Shakespeare IV.I.).When Juliet goes to Friar Laurence's cell, she is acting like she is confessing her sins before she gets married to Paris, but she's there because she needs a plan to not marry Paris because she is in love with Romeo -that's the tragedy. The misfort continues when after Juliet goes to the friar and gets the plan for the night she goes home and drinks the poison and she is supposed to sleep for at least 42 hours when Romeo should wake her up in the tomb (shakespeare IV.III.15-55). Romeo doesn't get the letter in time for the news, so when Bathasar gets there in Manha, he has no clue what he is talking about and freaks out- that's the misfortune. Shakespeare states that the next day there was supposed to be a friar sent out to Manhua to tell the news to Romeo but he was stopped because of the plague going around in the town so he never got to go so Bathaser not knowing the situation goes and tells Romeo that Juliet has died and Romeo goes and buys poison to kill himself and be next to Juliet when he gets to the tome Paris is there and wonders why Romeo is there if he should be in Manhua but they end up fighting and Paris is killed by Romeo and Romeo ends up laying paris on the floor instead of next to Juliet like Paris wanted but Romeo is there instead of him and Romeo ends up drinking the poison and a few moments after Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo and Paris and immediately starts to cry and juliet ends up killing herself with Romeo's dagger(Shakespeare V.I-II-III.I-5-85/II-5-25/II-5-165).
