He wants people to avoid thinking that developing only one true self identity is healthy. A mask allows an individual to see his or her full potential by not having a true identity. Masks have multiple identities based on the certain situations and environments (circumstances) the person is having(undergoing). I agree with Gergens interpretation (assertion) and his psychological
We, society, can view an individual in normal clothes; such as baggy pants, designed brown boots, and a shirt, and this is without a previous image just a vague impression, to some people, this can be perceived as a country girl or boy, a low-class individual, or a regular person in just boots, shirt and pants. We tend to have our special means of tagging people because of our interactions with people comparable to them, either through media or the way it is recognized to us through our household and surroundings. This is continuing ideology that has been around since probably the rise of man, just to classify others. It’s the motive we construct little factions with people who are similar to our personality.
Richard Speck was one of America’s most daunting mass murderers. He was born in Kirkwood, Illinois in 1941 and moved to Monmouth, Illinois shortly after he was born. Speck was the seventh of eight children in his great religious family. Speck experienced the sadness of death very early in his life. He lost his father, whom he was very close to, at the age of six, and lost his oldest brother at the age of eleven.
If a woman has no particular hairstyle, it is perceived that she does not care about the way she looks. If a women wears tight or revealing clothing, it is perceived that she wants to be seen as attractive. Discrimination in society has become so common that people make opinions on others without being aware of
Once again, “In the world people try to hide things from each other but one way or another they find out what they are hiding.”
People act differently when they are with certain people than when they are alone. Some will call this act a “mask.” This metaphor is used because people cover up who they truly are or what they really feel with their actions; similar to the way a mask covers up a person’s face. This idea of a mask is explored in Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem, “We Wear the Mask” and readers can see examples of “masks” in Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. People often wear masks to hide something about themselves that they are not proud of or hide their emotions and fears they do not want others to know.
The reason that I want to attend Machik Weekend is because when I grow older, I aspire to work for the Tibetans inside Tibet, and to give back to the community that has helped me developed my own identity as a Tibetan. Although I am far away from my country, distance shouldn’t be a barrier because there is so much that can be done. Machik’s cause immediately struck an inner chord in my heart and reminded me of the detailed stories that my late Grandpa and Grandma had told me from their experiences in Tibet. I wish to be apart of this amazing organization that helps so many people in my homeland.

Insanity or Insecurity Society, It is always changing, just like the people in it. No one wants to look out of place in the world so they do what they can to fit in. Everyone does it differently it might be acting a certain way, or changing style, but with fitting in comes rejection. Just like trying to fit in, dealing with rejection is done differently, most people try to fix the problem before they start to get labeled.
Hiding underneath a mask as if you were someone new, is well worth it. What mask are you hiding under? “Swear this one you’ll save” Would you trust the person beside you? Even if we trust a few with our secrets, how long will it take until they spill? “The Wife’s Story” the husband couldn't hold it in anymore and wanted to tell his family the truth, not knowing that when the truth could end up getting him killed.
Fame is in everyone 's mind in today’s society. With social media, such as Youtube, it’s easy to become famous, but for some people that isn 't enough. There are people out there who will do anything for fame, one such example is Luka Rocco Magnotta. When he was 22, he went under a psychiatric assessment, as was diagnosed with depression. He was prescribed with medication for life.
Why do so many people feel the need to judge others based on how they look? Judging others gives people a sense of honor because demeaning others can create a sense of security and identity. If one concludes who a person is merely on what they look like they will miss what is important, what their morals are, and what their intentions are. It takes an individual who has read the novel To Kill A Mockingbird to understand because it is a perfect example of treating others with respect and not determining who others are based on what they look like. Many characters in Lee’s
We don’t realize that we stereotype others based on their physical appearances and we act very racial towards others, it just comes natural. I believe that humans should take the time to reevaluate their actions when it comes to racial thoughts and prejudice attitudes. Everybody is different. Not everyone has the same beliefs and morals therefore everyone will behave differently. Stereotypes often lead to negative actions, but we have no control.
If your family is starving but the laws told you that you cannot go out and get food, what do you do? A similar question was running circles in Tommy Pikok Sr. and John Nusunginya’s head when the law told him he could not provide food for his family. In 1961 the Duck-In began when the Migratory Bird Treaty was signed. This treaty outlawed hunting from March to September when the birds were only available for harvest in Alaska. As a result, the hungry Iñupiaq people in Barrow decided to pay no mind to the law and protested.
