On 05/06/17, at 11:43am, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to 523 S Wayne Ave on a dog on dog or cat attack, no known owner. I arrived at the location and was met by Columbus Division of Police (CPD) and complainant Raquel Fuentes. I asked what happened; Ms. Fuentes stated that she was taken part in a community event by assisting with neighborhood clean-up with her dog (small white terrier) when a brown/white Pit Bull came out of nowhere and proceeded to attack her dog. With the assistance of passerby they were able to get the brown/white Pit Bull away from Ms. Fuentes dog.

On 11/26/17, at approximately10:47am, I Deputy Warden N. Christian with Franklin County Animal Care and Control (FCACC) was dispatched to 3269 E. 12th on on a dog at large, patrol only. I arrived on scene at approximately11:25am, I was flagged down by a unknown African American male who pointed out the location of a pit bull (black) loose behind the above stated address. I took a picture of the pit bull loose. I exited my vehicle and approached the pit bull. I was able to place a leash on the pit bull without any issues.

In the United States twenty-nine states are enforcing breed specific legislation since there is no state level law prohibiting the enforcement of the specific laws. There are four states that prohibit the enforcement of breed specific laws on a state level but some cases have slipped through the cracks of the state law due to being grandfathered in or finding a loophole through home-rule exemption. However, some states have begun enforcing more laws that identify, track, and regulate dangerous dogs not matter what the breed
“Pit bull” is not a breed. It is a broad term often used to describe dogs with similar characteristics and traits. Because of irresponsible owners and the media, many people are misinformed about pit bulls. Not everything said about pit bulls is true so it is important to know the facts instead of making assumptions.
They were bred to make a very athletic dog that was also very intelligent. Although they do not have the strongest bite force of domesticated dogs, they also do not have the price tag like the german shepherd or rottweiler. Many breeders like to breed animals for money and do not care who the animals are raised by; this usually causes dogs to end up in the wrong hands. A great alternative to BSL is to make it illegal to breed dogs without proper licensing.
If the breed of the dog is Pitbull/Boxer then the amount of bacteria will increase. My idea for the Science Fair is seeing if there is different amounts of bacteria in different breeds of dogs. This project is interesting to be because I like to work with animals and I think it would be a fun experiment. I want to see what types of dogs have the most bacteria in their mouths. In 2002 E. Jayne Gustafson did a science fair project similar to mine.

Dog fighting was originally in England (instead of dogs they used bears and other animals) but was later outlawed because they “made” a breed of pit bulls (Staffordshire Bull Terrier). After a dogfight if/when the dog(s) get hurt the owners don 't treat any of the injuries. If the dog(s) die in a fight it is known as the biggest disgrace that could happen in a fight. It also harms the dog fighter, those dogs whose are forced to fight, many dogs were treated badly with the bad conditions of living .
There is a long list of regulations that need to be meet to obtain a dog such as liability insurance mandatory spay or neuter and muzzled in public. With BSL the government basically controls who can and cannot have a banned
