Companies today are striving to be environmentally conscious, while facing many challenges and also benefits. However, in order to be successful at this endeavor, the companies are trying to find a balance between operating in an environment friendly or green field and generate a profit at the same time.
Challenges of being Environmentally Conscious Companies

“I do believe that the costs of environmental compliance are unnecessarily high. They are the result of a regulatory system that has become inefficient and ineffective.” (Clark et al., 1994). This is a valid point, however, companies complying with the environment should not always be looking at gaining financial return. Another challenge a company faces is how to convert to an environmentally friendly business; for a small business perspective, the cost outweighs the benefits. A company may decide to become environmentally friendly, but how do they guarantee their suppliers will comply with their decision and only provide products in agreement with their vision and commitment?
