There is no question that climate change is affecting our earth in some way or another. Human produced gases are the main cause for the earth getting hotter, not just the sun. Blaming the sun is not the answer when in reality the sun could not possible be warming the earth at this alarming rate. It is the humans fault for allowing this earth to get so hot. It is our job to stop it before it’s too late. I strongly believe that the causes of climate change is due to human produced gases. Human produced gases released at a rising level into the atmosphere create a greenhouse effect that traps the heat and causes global warming. Sunlight is the natural heater for the earth, but some of that warmth is absorbed by greenhouse gases. Some of these …show more content…

The rise in atmospheric CO2 over the last century was certainly caused by humans, as it developed at a rate much faster than natural climate changes could produce. Over the past 650,000 years, the atmospheric CO2 levels did not rise up to 330 ppm until the mid-20th century. The ppm levels keep rising throughout the years. In 1958, the atmospheric CO2 levels were at 317 ppm and in 2013 they have risen up to 400 ppm. By the year 2040, the CO2 levels are estimated to be 450 ppm. Which means, when I am 40 years old, and my children are growing up, that is what they are going to have to face. Imagine your kids growing up in that. Some climate models predict that by the end of the 21st century, an additional 5 degrees Fahrenheit- 10 degrees Fahrenheit of warming will occur. "Extreme speed at which carbon dioxide concentrations are increasing is unprecedented. An increase of 10 parts per million might have needed 1,000 years or more to come to pass during ancient climate change events" says the Scripps Institution of Oceanology. It is clear to see humans are the cause of climate change because the natural process for the earth is much …show more content…

The natural changes of the sun’s activity cannot explain what is happening to the 20th century global warming. According to Nature Geoscience, in a 2013 study, the sun has a minor effect on the Northern Hemisphere climate over the past thousand years. Global warming is due to the human produced greenhouse gases and that has been the primary reason since 1900. In 2013 also, a study found that the solar activity only could have contributed no more than 10% of the global warming in the 20th century. From 1979-2009 the sun’s energy measured in the upper atmosphere has gone up and down in cycles. There is warming occurring in the lower atmosphere but the upper atmosphere is cooling. If it was the sun to blame for global warming, the upper atmosphere would be getting warmer, not
