Firefighters usually put their full suit and jacket over the clothes they wear around the station. Their boots are usually rubber or leather, they are waterproof and have special things in they to prevent anything landing on or hurting their feed. The pants are three layers, a Fire- resistive layer, a moisture barrier, and a thermal layer. Their coat has the same layers as the pants, they also have large pockets and clips to hold things such as radios, flashlights, and and other things they might need. There is a flash-hood that keeps the other exposed parts of their face covered, it is made of a fire-resistant material. The helmet protects their head from falling things and anything else that could injure them. The helmet is one of the most important parts of their gear. They carry a air pack on their back that provides air for them to breathe so they will not breathe in smoke. Gloves are one of the last major things they wear to protect their body. They are very thick and allow firefighters to carry and move hot objects without getting burnt. Overall the gear can weigh up to about 45 pounds but once you add the axes and iron bar it can weigh around 75
