I. We consume 8,500mg of salt per day, almost all from processed food. This is only one of the many reasons people have poor nutrition. Humans tend to not know the difference between processed and real foods causing the nutrition levels in our society to drop at an alarming rate. For years this problem has been a big factor to obesity and illness. Real food is single ingredient with no chemicals even if they’re ground and put into a jar. Processed includes chemically processed, refined ingredients, and artificial substances. They have many artificial ingredients with many to zero real food. Lately, dairy items have required processing, as well as grain, due to people not having the time or resources to do it themselves.
3. Furthermore, food manufacturers do their own research to determine if their food is safe being the FDA does not have time to do it.
C. To ensure that food stays fresh additives are used in many of our groceries but can be harmful and create allergies.
1. Food additives can even be found in foods that are labeled organic
a. At least one natural and 20 artificial ingredients can still be labeled organic.
b. If food has a green certified labeled it is truly organic.
2. Lots of additives can not be pronounced and should be avoided.
a. Items include partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (toxic) and are in tasty common foods like chips, fries and donuts.
b. These oils produce trans fat and could lead to heart disease, diabetes and AL timers.
3. In addition to other additives, natural flavors and colors can mean that it is not natural.
a. Could mean ground up bugs
b. Certain dyes lead to hyper activity in children
c. The more coloring, the more the food is junk
