Food Traditions of Other Countries Over the thousands of years that man has existed, many people in many different countries have created customs and traditions of their own. Many of these traditions typically include food. In different countries, there are different types of food eaten on certain special occasions. These occasions include Christmas, Easter, and many unique holidays people around the world celebrate. Food traditions are different all over the world, it simply depends on the type of people that live there. Many people claim that America has the best foods and dishes. However, this may be because many of the foods eaten in America come from other countries. The French only eat three times a day, with each meal eaten at the same time everyday, and they do not snack in between. Breakfast is usually the lightest meal and it is typically only bread and coffee. Following breakfast, is a large lunch and a four-course dinner. The reason that they have strict meal times is so that everyone knows when meals take place, which makes it easier to spend time together. This goes for families as well as work colleagues. The French eat smaller portions and children are expected to eat as much as adults. The French are very organized when it comes to cuisine (Diggs, “Food and Eating Habits in France”).
All over the world, people are different and that produces different cultures. In these cultures, various foods are created and this is what brings people together. Different ideas are used and reused which creates unity and traditions. Although there are many different ways people are brought together, food is the most common way that this happens.
