As mentioned earlier, Child abuse and neglect cases are complex matters. The role of a forensic evaluator in these matters is to systematically and objectively evaluate the child and or caregivers involved, to formulate understanding of the mental status and or cognitive as well as psychological capacities of the involved, and to present the information to the court and/or CP&P to assist them in making decisions and case planning. The guiding principle in child welfare matters are always, safety, permanency and well being of the child. I maintain competency in the area of child protection matters both in terms of law and regulations a well as professional knowledge. I regularly review laws and regulations governing child protection. I maintain my specialized competency through continued training and education in the specialized field. I regularly read scientific and reliable professional materials, participation in credentialed workshops, and engage in peer review and supervision.
