Recently, people worldwide have been questioning what should be the preferable energy resource for them. This question led researchers to examine the two great, yet antagonistic sources of energy: renewable energy and fossil fuel energy. Both are excellent energy resources. According to the article “Fossil Fuel” published by Encyclopædia Britannica, fossil fuels are all sorts of materials derived from the Earth’s mantle which are useful to provide energy. Furthermore, the article “Renewable Energy” with the same publisher states that renewable energy, also named alternative energy, includes all types of power sources given by nature. Although renewable energy is cheaper in the long term, less efficient to society and less damaging to the environment, …show more content…
Mathias Maehlum in his article “Fossil Fuels Pros and Cons”, argues that fossil fuels are inexpensive and trustworthy power sources, likewise with renewable energy in Travis Hoium’s article “Renewable energy gaining on fossil fuels”, but with the conditions at stake. For example, in solar energy, solar panels in their first implementation, costs more than the subsequent ones. On the other hand, this doesn’t happen in fossil fuel because the first implementation costs more than the other. Maehlum in the same article states that fossil fuels are cheap only due to the government money at the first implementation because they offer more money to fossil fuel energy rather than to solar and wind energy. However, Maehlum on the article “Solar Energy Pros and Cons” mentions that in 2010, coal industries received a more advantageous amount of money than solar energy. Therefore, lidding to the fact that coal has more energy to give than …show more content…
In his article, “Fossil Fuels Pros and Cons,” Mathias Maehlum says that although fossil fuel do not produce greenhouse gas, they contain high quantities of carbon and are guilty for being the principal global warming participant; however, having renewable energy does not means that you are safe, only due to the fact that they have powerful contributor to deaths around the world, that is called Nuclear Power. Nuclear power produces the radioactive waste that is damaging to societies and to the environment. And according to past news, nuclear energy have killed thousands of people in that Chernobyl accident and it is still damaging the environment with his air pollution. Even though fossil fuels are not nearly as harmful as nuclear energy, they are perfectly great air polluters and the most effective in this case. In contrast, solar energy certainly is less damaging to nature than fossil fuel, but they also created the greenhouse gas, one of the contributors of air pollution in global
