There are many types of ways to become successful in this world, and this also depends on your opinion on what being successful is. Some people see it as being rich, being happy, having a family, etc. Frank Lucas, one of the biggest drug lords ever, saw success as being ridiculously rich. “Donald Trump rich” as Lucas would call it (“Frank Lucas Biography”). Frank Lucas is currently 86 years old and was born in North Carolina on September 9th, 1930. Lucas and his wife, Julianna Farrait, have seven kids and are both out of jail and have been married for 40 years. Lucas, an african american, and his family were involved in violence with the KKK early in his life and this is looked on as a possible reasoning that Lucas became involved in crime throughout his life. Lucas was very well known for keeping all his information secret, by keeping it in between very close friends and family. One of the main people to help Lucas in his drug “career” was Leslie Atkinson, who was married to one of Lucas’ cousin (“Frank Lucas”). Atkinson was in the Army, this helped propel Lucas’ drugs sell to veterans and people in the army and also helped him with the transporting. During the Vietnam war, many Veterans used Heroin during this time. Lucas saw this as a chance and when the war was over many Veterans were addicted to Heroin, and Lucas took advantage of this.
