The Author
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born in Godwin (England) in 30 August 1797 and died in 1 February 1851.
She was a novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer.
The English novelist started writing it when she was 18 years-old, and was published when she was 20.
“FRANKENSTEIN: OR, THE MODERN PROMETHEUS (1818)” is her most recognized work nevertheless she edited and helped promote some of the works of her husband (Percy Bysshe Shelley, Romantic poet and philosopher).
William Godwin was Shelley’s father and a political philosopher, and her mother was a philosopher and feminist named Mary Wollstonecraft.

This book has had a great influence in literature and popular culture.
Plot
The book starts with letters from a ship captain to his sister. In this letters Walton, the ship captain, reports to his sister how the trip is going and the letters end when he tells he was stuck in the middle of the ice and found a men completely exhausted.
At this point the real story begins and the narrator is now Victor Frankenstein, the main character.
Victor starts to describe is early life in Geneva. His childhood was spent manly with his “adopted sister” Elizabeth Lavenza and his best friend Henry Clerval. For Victor Elizabeth was since the beginning one of the most important persons in Victor´s life. Later Victor enters the University of Ingolstadt where he becomes obsessed with the secrets of life. This is the turning point in hole the plot it is this obsession that will result in all the changes in Victor´s life.

While he was in the street he bumps into his childhood friend Henry that had come also to study at the university. Victor takes Henry to his apartment but when gets there the monster is already gone. Although the monster is gone Victor falls into a feverish illness. While he was sick he received a letter from his father saying that his younger brother, William, has murdered. Victor after receiving this letter rushes home and while passing the place where is brother was murdered he catches sight of the monster for the first time since we got away. When he arrives home he finds out that Justine, another girl adopted by his parents, was accused of killed William and was executed.
