The book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a classic tale about a scientist who used the idea of Galvanism to create new life. Of course, the scientist, Victor Frankenstein, has to be an absolute genius to pull off a large task. It did not turn out so well when the monster woke up and Victor realized what he had done. As a result of the disgust Victor was experiencing, the monster ended up lurking alone. The monster was so lonely he started committing acts of vengeance. No normal person could create such a huge monster based on basic knowledge, so, the question is whether intelligence could be both a curse and a blessing. It is scientifically proven that smart people prefer to be themselves. In Frankenstein, he isolates himself to ensure he completes this huge task. His inability to feel pain regarding his mother's death shows that intelligence is a curse because he cannot express emotions and feel sorrow. Along with this, Victor experiences many health issues because he shuts himself out and works hard for so long. In paragraph 5 he says “I have worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself of rest and health.” Victor did this to himself because he was isolated and had nothing better to do. But intelligence is not only a curse, it is a huge blessing. Without people's innovative mindset, the world would not grow. There have to be inventions and experiments to create a better world.
